As a counsellor I believe that the relationship that is built with my client is one of the most important aspects of the counselling process. Each client is unique and as such my approach is flexible and client specific ensuring the most productive working relationship. Whilst I consider past events and experiences an important factor of the therapy and an area that may be explored, this is not necessarily a matter on which we dwell excessively. The main focus of therapy is on the present, helping the client to function better in their daily lives. The possibility of reflecting on past events and experiences can be used as a resource for change.
